The New Cornwall Map-Guide

It has arrived, at last, after being out of print for months. The Introduction explains the thinking behind my continuing production of it. Hitherto:

The simple purpose of this publication is to present the “Very Best of the Best” of Cornwall in an accessible, easy-to-read, and easy-to-follow, format. Goldeneye have been publishing a range of Map-Guides for 25+ years, and this design has survived the test of time.  In an increasingly digital world where information is available at the touch of a button: on a mobile phone or an ipad. I believe there is still a market for an expansive paper map that allows you to see where you have come from, and are going to, and, to get a better perspective on the area you are visiting.

So, if you decide to purchase this Map-Guide.  I wish you great enjoyment in Cornwall, and I hope you return home treasuring many fond memories...

Today, is also the anniversary of the first day of my Long Walk - the sabbatical that changed the course of my life. My journey on foot from St Malo to Greece via the ancient tracks and paths of France and Italy, and the wayward crusty tracks of Greece.....

Wuuurlee-Gigs En Masse (Wind Turbines)

Whatever one's opinion (has it any relevance) of these machines, those on Fullabrook Down are, apparently, far more cost effective than thousands placed across Holland and Germany according to a Dutch engineer who maintains them. And, they have to be closed every two months for a full MOT. That those who make a fine living from them complain bitterly when they do close, when a south-westerly, or north-easterly (raining pound notes) is forecast....Are they a thing of beauty, or a blot on the landscape?

The English Spring Garden

Wisteria's in bud

Three Clematis
It may well be raining cats and dogs (all day) but one can still look through the mist and appreciate new growth, the explosion of colour and timbre, and the extraordinary architectural form of these flowers. Strangely, both were photographed in my garden. But,  I am  still waiting for some calm, bright dawns...so I can get over to Marwood, Watersmeet, et al...

Happy Birthday Alice.....my 8-year old
